Indian cricket batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has retired from international cricket. He gave information about retirement on social media on Sunday, August 24. Pujara played his last international match in June 2023 (Test). His international career was 15 years old.

Cheteshwar’s father Arvind Pujara himself wanted to become a cricketer. His dream was to play in the Indian cricket team. However, that dream did not fulfill. Then he completed his dream through Cheteshwar.
Pujara is a third generation cricketer
Cheteshwar’s father Arvind Pujara and uncle Bipin Pujara were both Ranji Trophy players for Saurashtra. Apart from these, his grandfather Shivlal Pujara also used to play cricket at the time when the Ranji Trophy did not even start in India.
Father decided to make a cricketer after seeing a picture
Pujara was playing cricket with his maternal uncle at the Race Course Ground in Rajkot at the age of 4 to 5 years. Mama was bowling and Cheteshwar Batting. During this time a photographer friend of his maternal uncle took a picture. A week later, the picture was shown to Pujara’s father. In this, Pujara’s eyes were on the exact ball with plastic bat.

The father felt that the manner in which Cheteshwar is batting on the ball at such a young age means that there is an inbuilt talent within him.
Started playing professional cricket from the age of 7 years
In an interview, Cheteshwar says that the father started training at the age of 7 to 8 years of his professionally cricket ball. After 4 years of hard training, he introduced his friend Karshan Ghavri (bowler) playing international cricket. Karshan used to call Ghavri with love as all bitter brothers.
Kadu Bhai started cricketing journey
Actually, father had to take opinion from Kadu Bhai about Cheteshwar’s cricketing career. So that, a decision can be taken about the journey ahead of cricketing.
After half an hour on one -one cricketing session, Kadu Bhai said to Cheteshwar’s father in Gujarati, ‘Dum to Dum Chhe Chhe’ i.e. ‘Bande Me Dum To Dum To’. Cheteshwar’s cricketing journey began after this confirmation.
Cheteshwar’s father Arvind used to work in the railway. He used to practice till late evening from 7 to 9 in the morning and 5 in the evening.

National record set by scoring 300 runs at the age of 12
Pujara changed the school after completing the 7th at the age of 12. Along with this, he got the first appearance. Pujara got a chance to repair Saurashtra in Under 14. During that time there were 3 days of under -14 matches. Pujara set a national record by scoring 300 runs in his first match.
Under 14, 16 and 19 played together in all three teams
After the national record, Cheteshwar started getting new places. This year, the Under 16 got a chance in the Saurashtra team. Then the next year was selected in Under 19. In such a situation, the three teams of Saurashtra i.e. under 14, 16 and 19 got a chance to play together in the three teams.

Cheteshwar played his first under -19 match in Rajkot in the year 2003.
Mother lost at the age of 17
In the year 2005, Cheteshwar was 17 years old. He was returning home from the bus after playing the list of the district. The manager of the team comes and says that Cheteshwar will not come to receive you at the bus stand today, but your cousin will come. Earlier, it was always happening that whenever Cheteshwar returned after playing a match, his father or mother used to come to receive him. This was happening for the first time when another person was coming to pick up.
After getting down from the bus, Cheteshwar saw his brother’s body language and felt as if there was something wrong in the house. However, despite asking, Kajin did not say anything. He then took Cheteshwar to Cheteshwar’s maternal uncle’s house instead of his house. On reaching there, Cheteshwar saw that all relatives and friends were gathered there. It was then told that his mother is no longer.
He was shocked for 3 to 4 months after the mother’s death. However, he continued to play cricket. Then he was selected in the first class team of Saurashtra. In December 2005, he made his first class cricket debut for Saurashtra.
Player of the Tournament in Under 19 World Cup
In 2005, Cheteshwar was selected in the Indian World Cup team. He then played for India in the ICC Under -19 World Cup 2006 held in Sri Lanka. He was the highest scorer to score 349 runs throughout the tournament. For this, he was voted Player of the Tournament.
Debut against Australia
Cheteshwar’s international debut for India was made against Australia in the Bengaluru Test on 9 October 2010. He played a half -century innings of 72 runs in the debut match itself. After this, he came to be called a possible successor of Rahul Dravid.

Cheteshwar and Pooja were married on 13 February 2013.

In an interview with Bhaskar, Pooja tells about marriage to Cheteshwar, when I got Cheteshwar’s bio -data for marriage, he was only 6 line. The weight was written in it, 76 kg but the height was not mentioned. He felt that Pujara may have prepared his biodata in compulsion. There was no details in it. However, in 2012, Cheteshwar and Pooja met and married in 2013.
Pooja is the first Indian cricketer’s wife who wrote the book
