Children of Delhi government schools will soon read about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh i.e. RSS. Soon, syllabus from class 1 to 12 will include lessons based on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This information was given by State Education Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday.
Sood said, “Chapters are being added on the RSS in school children’s books to develop citizens and social consciousness among students and focus on fundamental duties.”
He said that under the new educational program called ‘Rashtriyati’, a chapter is being added to students from class 1 to 12 to promote civil awareness, moral rule and national pride. The ‘Rashtriyati’ program was started by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on 18 September under the ‘Namo Vidya Utsav’ held at Bharat Mandapam.
Under this, children will be taught about the origin and history of RSS, its ideology and the role of volunteers during natural disasters and freedom struggle. Also, efforts will be made to remove the misconceptions related to the organization.
Chapters will be on the social contribution of RSS
In the new syllabus, the participation of RSS in the freedom struggle will also be taught about its social work. These will include relief and rescue operations in disasters like blood donation campaign, food distribution, Kedarnath and Bihar floods, and assistance done during the corona epidemic.
PM Modi, former PM Atal Bihari will also join
The new syllabus will also mention the history of RSS, which was founded in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur. At the same time, leaders like former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be informed, who have been associated with it. The topic of unheard heroes will also be added to the syllabus. In this, personalities like Savarkar, Subhash Chandra Bose and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee will be taught.
Handbook has been prepared for teachers and training sessions are going on in SCERT. Discussion on more topics is going on about the syllabus.
