1. Former RBI Governor Urjit Patel appointed Executive Director of IMF
On August 29, former RBI Governor Urjit Patel was appointed as the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund i.e. IMF. Urjit Patel held the post of 24th Governor of Reserve Bank of India on 24 September 2016.
During his tenure, 500 and 1000 notes were demonetisation in India. However, he could not complete his term for personal reasons and resigned on December 10, 2018.
Urjit Patel was the 24th Governor of RBI.
2. Neeraj Chopra won Silver in Diamond League final
On August 28, Indian Jewelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the Silver in the Diamond League final. Neeraj won the title in the Diamond League held at Latezigrund Stadium in the city of Zurich, Switzerland.
This is Neeraj’s third consecutive silver medal in the Diamond League. Earlier, Neeraj finished first in the final of the Diamond League at the same stadium in 2022.
Neeraj finished second in the final to finish Julian Weber.

1. Counting of teachers in India crosses 1 crore for the first time
The counting of teachers in India in India’s 2024-25 Udise report of the Ministry of Education has crossed 1 crore for the first time. In the 2023-24 session, the count of teachers in the country was 98.8 lakh, which has increased to 1.01 crores in this session. 51% of these teachers are in government schools.
According to this report, there are 1,04,125 schools in the country which have only 1 teacher. Apart from this, the number of female teachers in the country has increased by 8% in the last 10 years, while the number of male teachers has increased just 1%. This report has been issued by Unified District Information System for Education i.e. Udise under the Ministry of Education.
2. SSC Celebration Phase 13’s Reigns held today in 3 shifts
The reigns of SSC selection Phase 13 were held today in 3 shifts. But the candidates were also unhappy with the reigns. In the videos released on social media, the candidates were seen shouting slogans outside the center. Some students said that the entry at the center was late, some complained of disturbances in the system and the server. Reegjam was done for 59,500 candidates who had received technical problems in the examination last time.
