On Monday, the ICC i.e. International Cricket Council appointed Sanjog Gupta as CEO. He will replace Jioof Aldis. On this occasion, ICC Chairman Jai Shah said, ‘I am happy to say that Sanjog Gupta has been made the CEO of ICC. Sanjogs bring a good experience of sports strategy and commercialization which will prove to be important for ICC.
Sanjog has taken charge since 7 July. He is the seventh CEO of the ICC and is the second Indian to hold the post after Manu Sahni.

Selected from 2,500 candidates
More than 2,500 candidates were applied for this post from 25 countries. The ICC’s HR and the Remuneration Committee shortlisted 12 of these candidates. The final selection nomination Committee performed ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja, ECB Chair Richard Thompson, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia. Here the ICC board unanimously chose Sanjog Gupta.
‘2 billion people are cricket lover’
Regarding selection, Sanjog Gupta said, ‘It is an honor for me that I am handling this responsibility. Especially when cricket is towards expansion. About 2 billion fans in the world love this game. I will get a chance to contribute to all these- I will get a chance to contribute to all of them- the increasing popularity of women’s cricket and sharp use of technology in the LA 2028 Olympics. I want to contribute to all the members of ICC in association with the next stage of cricket.
