Peter Navaro was born on 15 July 1949 at Massachusets in Cambridge. He is of Italian origin. Peter’s father Albert Al Navarro was a Saxophoneist and shehnai player.

Has also worked in India

Peter Navarro started his career in 1973 by joining the American Peace Corps i.e. Shanti Sena. During this time he served in countries like India, Thailand, Laos, Japan and Myanmar.

He worked till 1976. However, after this he started his studies again. Then he John F. Masters (MPA) in Public Administration from Kennedy School and did PHD in Economics from Harvard University.

Peter Navarro has worked on relations between the United States and Asia on energy issues.

Taught for 20 years at California University

From 1981 to 1985, he was the Research Associate at the Energy and Environmental Policy Center in Harvard. From 1985 to 1988, he taught at California University and San Diego University. Then Paul Mera of the University of California, Irwin (UCI) became a professor of Economics and Public Policy at the School of Business.

He worked for more than 20 years as a faculty in UC Irwin. Then in 2016, Professor retired as Emeritus.

In 2011, Trump mentioned his 20 favorite books in an interview with Los Angeles Times. One of these books was ‘Death by China’. Its writer Peter was Navarro. Then he slowly came in contact with Trump for the first time.

Trump’s Business Advisor for Campaign

It is the year 2016. At that time, Trump’s advisor was his son -in -law Jered Kushner. He saw on the ecommerce portal Amazon that the writer of ‘Death by China’ is Navaro.

Kushner liked the thesis of this book so much that he made Peter Navaro the business advisor of Trump’s campaign. He was then worked as an Economic Policy Advisor for Trump’s 2016 President campaign.

White House became the first director of National Trade Council

After Trump came to power, Navaro was initially promised to appoint the post of National Economic Council (National Economic Council). But this post was given to Gary Kohan.

After this, on December 21, 2016, the newly elected President Trump made a new post (post) in the White House. Navaro was then made the director of the White House National Trade Council.

However, for the first 3 weeks, Navaro was not assigned any office in the White House campus and had to work from his home.

Nawaro also became the director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy.

4 months jailed in election rigging case

Navaro tried to reverse the presidential election two weeks before the presidential election in October 2020. In 2022, a grand jury accused him in 2 cases of contempt of US Congress.

In 2024, he was sentenced to 4 months in jail. In this way, he became the first former White House officer to go to jail on charges of contempt of Congress.

Senior Counselor of Trump’s Trade and Manufacturing

Donald Trump again wins on 5 November 2024. On December 4, 2024, the newly elected President Donald Trump announced that Navaro would be Senior Advisor (Senior Counselor) for Trade and Manufacturing in his second term.

He is one of the few officers to return from Trump’s first term. He took over on January 20, 2025. Navarro Trump’s recent tariff policies, such as 2025 are the major architects of Liberation Day ‘Tariff.
