Unified District Information System for Education i.e. Udice has released a report. It describes how there is a big difference in the ratio of school and teacher. Udice is the data base of the Union Ministry of Education, which aims to gather information related to education from all schools.
According to the report, in the last academic session, a total of 24.69 crore students were read in 14.71 lakh schools, yet there was not a single student in 7993 schools.
Only one teacher in more than 1 lakh school
There are 1,04,125 schools in the country that have only one teacher, while there is not a single enrollment in 7993 schools, that is, not a single student is studied there.

These data have been revealed in the report of the Academic Session 2024-25 of the Unified District Information System for Education (Udice).
However, both these data have decreased compared to the previous session. This report states that for the first time in the country, the number of teachers in an academic session has been more than 1 crore. Their number in the session of 2023- 24 was 98.83 lakhs, which has now increased to 1,01,22,420. Of these, 51% i.e. 51.47 lakh teachers are in government schools.
1 teacher on 21 students in school
These data show that the number of women teachers has also increased rapidly. In 2014-15, the male teacher was 45.46 lakhs and the female was 40.16 lakhs, which has increased to 2024- 25 to 46.41 lakh men and the number of women has increased to 54.81 lakh.

The number of female teachers has increased by about 8%.
Since 2014, 61% of 51.36 lakh recruitments have been of women teachers. Now there is a teacher on 21 students, first was 31. At the middle level, 10 years ago, a teacher had 26 students, who have come down to 17. At the secondary level, it has come down from 31 to 21. However, the less the students with teachers, they will be able to give them more time.
Students dropout rate decreased
The drop out rate in 2023-24 at secondary level was 10.9%, which has increased to 8.2% in 2024-25. At the middle level, it declined 3.5% from 5.2% and the primary from 3.7% to 2.3%.

At the higher secondary level, a teacher in schools in Jharkhand has to teach an average of 47 children.
The retention rate at primary level has now increased from 85.4 % to 92.4 % in 2023-24. It has increased from 78% to 82.8% at the middle level and it has increased from 45.6% to 47.2% at secondary level. At the same time, the enrollment level at the secondary level has increased to 68.5%.
Averaged 47 children with 1 teacher in Jharkhand
The highest primary school is 80% of the total school in Bengal and 3% in Chandigarh. Chandigarh has 1222 students per school. It is 59 in Ladakh. At the higher secondary level, a teacher in schools in Jharkhand has to teach an average of 47 children. This figure in Sikkim is only 7 on average.
Bihar below in gross enrollment ratio (GER)
The primary ratio in Bihar is 69%, 51% of secondary and 38% of higher secondary. It is at the bottom at all levels. This ratio suggests how many children of his qualified age at some level are studying in school. Chandigarh has the highest ratio where GER of upper primary is 120%, 110% of middle and 107% of higher secondary.
