‘Educate Girls’ NGO has been awarded the 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Award. This highest honor of Asia has been received by an Indian organization for the first time.
The award has been given for the initiative to link educate girls back to education. Due to this earlier, till now they have linked more than 2 crore girls back to school.
After receiving this honor, the name of Educate Girls is named Satyajit Ray, M.S. Subbulakshmi, Kiran Bedi, Vinoba Bhave, Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa and Oscar winners Haio have joined with Miazaki.
Returning from San Francisco and establishing NGO
Educate Girls was founded in 2007 by Safina Hussain. She is a graduate from the London School of Economics and was working in San Francisco till 2007. After this, he returned to India and took the initiative to remove female illiteracy.

Safina Hussain served as the Executive Director of Child Family Health International in San Francisco from 1998 to 2004. She moved to India in 2007.
So far, work done in 30 thousand villages
Starting from Rajasthan, Educate Girls first identified communities where girls’ education was negligible. Then started admission of girls from these communities in schools.
In 2015, the organization launched the world’s first development impact bond (DIB) in the education sector. This means that investors fund the development project, and they also get returns when they come out. The pilot project started from 50 villages and gradually reached more than 30,000 villages in the most disadvantaged areas of India.
EDUCATE Girls also launched the Pragati Open-Schooling program, which allows women aged 15 to 29 to complete their education. Earlier, there were 300 girls in the batch, which has now increased to more than 31,500.
Educate girls have worked in more than 30 thousand villages so far. With the help of more than 55,000 community volunteers (team girls), more than 2 million girls have been brought back to school and helping more than 24 lakh children in better education.
In the coming time, the institution aims to reach more than one crore children and the cycle of poverty and illiteracy should be broken through education.
What is Ramon Magsaysay Award
The Ramon Magsaysay Award is given to individuals and institutions who have worked to bring deep changes in the society in a different way. This year, Shahina Ali of Maldives and Father Flaviano L. of the Philippines along with India’s educational girls. Villanuva has also received the award.
Shahina Ali has been honored for her fight against plastic pollution and saving the delicate maritime system of Maldives. At the same time, Father Villanuva has received this award to help thousands of homeless and poor people of Manila.
Honor will be available on 7 November
All the winners of 2025 will be given this honor on 7 November 2025 at the 67th Ramon Magsaysay Award Ceremony held on 7 November 2025 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. On this occasion, they will be given medals and certificates. The program can be seen live on the official Facebook and YouTube channel of the Foundation.
