University Grants Commission i.e. UGC on 20 August 2025 its new learning based curriculum framework [LOCF] The draft has been released. This includes Mythology for 9 subjects of graduation and topics related to Indian history.

This draft suggests adding topics like Indian history, census and algebra in subjects like maths, chemistry, commerce. UGC has sought opinion on the Karikulam draft by 20 September through Google Form, after which it will be implemented.

Resentment among students over draft

Many students and teachers groups have expressed displeasure over this draft. The Student Federation of India i.e. SFI also announced a three -day agitation from August 25 to 27 to protest this draft.

These 9 topics included in Locf Draft

Of these, controversy has started on mathematics, chemistry, economics and topics of commerce.

According to the new draft, the undergraduate students of mathematics will read about the era and the cycle through the sun theory, as well as the divine time cycle like Vishnu year and Shiva Year.

Apart from this, numerals in sources, call calculations, geometry from Shulba formulas, reflective yojayat sutras, almanac [भारतीय कैलेंडर] And will be taught to see Muhurta.

At the same time, in Commerce, Bhagwat Gita and Ramayana will also tell the principles of Indian management, Marwari Baniyas and business models of Gujaratis along with Vedas from Upanishads Puranas.

Draft will be considered by 20 September

Fedbacks have been sought from various universities and academics by 20 September on this draft. UGC has not yet given any information about when the part of these courses will be made.

The UGC says that this curriculum of Locf will promote innovation and will serve as an ideal course.

SFI announced 3 days protest

Students Group ‘Student Federation of India’ announced a 3 -day agitation in protest against this draft through press release. During this period, a march was conducted to UGC offices and centers across the country and demand letters were also sent to the Vice Chancellor against it.

RSS agenda is being run through education- SFI

SFI says about this draft, “RSS is being run through education, chemistry has been started with Saraswati Namaskar, Kautilya Economics has been added to Commerce. The freedom curriculum is equivalent to adding Savarkar’s book to the freedom course, misleading students with the real history of freedom.
