Guest lecturers of first grade colleges can be given three years to complete the Eligibility Criteria of UGC. The Higher Education Department proposes that guest lecturers complete the required qualifications in the next three years, such as PHD or Net/KSET. This will also complete the rules of UGC and lecturers will also get time for preparation.
Recently, in the meeting of Higher Education and Law Department, it was also said that the contract of guest lecturers should be increased for this educational year, so that they can get relief at the moment.
Crisis on more than 5,500 guest lecturers
According to the recent High Court order, only those lecturers can be appointed who fulfill the UGC qualifications. At present, more than 5,500 guest lecturers do not have this qualification. This decision causes a crisis on his job.
The government is also looking at this issue from a human point of view. Officials say that following the rules of UGC and the High Court order, the job of lecturers is also to be saved. The final decision on this will be taken after the Chief Minister’s discussion.
