1.18th International Astronomy Olympiad inaugurated in Mumbai
The 18th International Olympiad on the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (Ioaa) will start in Mumbai from August 12, in which more than 300 high school students from 64 countries will participate.
- The Olympiad, Jio World Convention Center organized by Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE) will be held.
- The inauguration ceremony will include the Principal Scientific Advisor of the Government Ajay Sood and Ajit Kambhvi, Vice President of the International Astronomical Union.
2. Extendant for Extra Tariff Deadline till 9 November
US President Donald Trump has once again deferred the decision to impose extra tariffs on China for 90 days. On Monday 11 August, Trump posted on social media and told that he signed the executive order to extend the US-China tariff deadline by 9 November.
- Earlier, there was a trade deal between the US and China in Geneva on 11 May. It agreed to postpone the decision to increase the tariff for 90 days.
- The US has currently put 30% tariff on China. Trump threatened to impose tariffs up to 245% on China.
- In response, China said to impose 125% tariffs. However, this did not apply after the Geneva Trade Deal.

Haryana Public Service Commission has issued a notification for recruitment of 153 posts of Assistant Engineer. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website hpsc.gov.in.
Vacancy Details:
- Assistant Engineer (Civil): 80 posts
- Municipal Engineer (Civil): 47 posts
- Sub Divisional Engineer: 26 posts
- Total number of posts: 153
Educational qualification:
- Degree in civil engineering from recognized university/ institute
- Part time, evening classes, distance education will not be able to apply for degrees.
Edge Limit:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 42 years
- Candidates coming from the reserved category will be given age relaxation as per HPSC rules.

1. Admission in Distance Program at Jamia Millia Islamia University
The Center for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University has released its prospectus for the 2025-26 academic year and has started admissions for distance and online mode program. Candidates can register by visiting the official website jmi.ucanapply.com.
